Careers

FieldX builds perception and decision systems for defence.
We are based in Goa, India.

Our products span three areas:
FX-Ground — long-range surveillance systems
FX-Sky — airspace defence for counter-UAS detection and response
FX-Edge — soldier systems for on-field use

All systems run on a shared stack:
FX-Core — on-device compute and sensor interface
FX-Ctrl — operator control and software layer
FX-Sim — simulation and model training pipeline

We work close to the hardware, ship to real users, and build the core IP in-house, including image processing, object detection, multi-target tracking, sensor fusion, agentic reasoning, and the cameras themselves. The focus is on domain-specific AI systems that operate within human-defined bounds that are autonomous in action, and accountable to command.

AI Engineer: Vision Models & Fusion

Goa, India

3-7 years

You’ll join our existing AI engineer to divide and conquer the vision AI work as the company scales — the perception layer that turns multi-spectral camera feeds into reliable detection, tracking, and decision support for operators in the field.

Experience:

  • 3–7 years in computer vision, deep learning, or perception systems.
  • Strong with PyTorch (or equivalent), classical CV (OpenCV), and edge model deployment (TensorRT, ONNX Runtime, or equivalent).
  • Hands-on production experience with object detection and multi-target tracking.
  • Image fusion, sensor calibration, or multi-sensor work is a plus.

What you'll do:

  • Build and ship production-grade vision models across our FX-Ground camera line: object detection, multi-target tracking, EO + thermal image fusion.
  • Own a slice of the perception roadmap end-to-end — training and evaluation through edge deployment on Jetson Orin hardware.
  • Drive OpenCV-based tooling: ISP support, day–night fusion, sensor calibration. Classical CV that complements modern deep learning.
  • Pick up cross-modal and RF fusion work as our radar partnership matures.
  • Use our internal simulation pipeline (FX-Sim) as a first-class part of the model-development loop — close the synthetic-to-real gap.
  • Partner with our FPGA / image-acceleration work on hardware-accelerated pipelines, and with the operator-experience team on inference deployment paths.
  • Get into the field — debug models against real captures and drive the data flywheel that makes every deployment better than the last.

Backgrounds that fit:

  • Mid-level perception engineer from defence, robotics, autonomous driving, or surveillance industry
  • Research-engineer profile from a strong CV lab (IIT / IIIT / equivalent)
  • ML engineer with strong classical CV foundations alongside modern deep learning

Full-Stack Software Engineer: FX-Ctrl / C2 / Operator Experience

Goa, India

4-7 Years

FX-Ctrl is the lens through which operators see what the system sees — alerts, tracks, threats, decisions. You’ll own the operator experience end-to-end and the camera control plane that drives our PTZ surveillance fleet.

Experience:

  • 4–7 years building production full-stack systems.
  • Frontend: React, Svelte, or equivalent; experience with map or 3D visualisation (deck.gl, CesiumJS, three.js) strongly preferred.
  • Backend: API design, real-time streaming (WebSockets, gRPC), auth, persistence (Postgres or similar). Mission-critical or operator-facing UI experience is a strong plus.
  • Bonus: camera control protocols (Pelco-D, ONVIF) or RTSP streaming.

What you'll do:

  • Own the FX-Ctrl operator dashboard end-to-end across FX-Ground and Skydome-EO — frontend, API layer, and server-side services that stream perception and fusion data in real time.
  • Own the camera control plane: Pelco-D and ONVIF servers, RTSP streaming, and the visual-servoing translation layer that turns tracking output into PTZ commands. We already ship working basic Pelco-D / ONVIF across our deployed PTZ fleet - you take it forward.
  • Drive the 3D airspace visualisation for Skydome-EO as a near-term priority.
  • Design data contracts between perception and fusion services and the UI — both sides of the wire are yours.
  • Build the server-side foundations: mission state persistence, multi-operator coordination, audit logs, auth.
  • Collaborate with the AI team on agent-to-operator presentation, and with the platform team on streaming pipeline performance.

QA Engineer: Integration & Client-Site Deployment

Goa, India

3-6 years

Our systems get deployed at borders, on ships, and at critical infrastructure. The bar for what ships is exactly as high as the bar for what gets tested. You’ll set that bar.

Experience:

  • 3–6 years in hardware/software integration testing, ideally in defence, robotics, automotive, or industrial systems.
  • Comfortable in the field — deployments at customer sites are part of the role.

What you'll do:

  • Own end-to-end integration test strategy across FX-Core variants and the full FX-Ground stack — from camera bring-up through FX-Ctrl operator dashboard.
  • Build and maintain test rigs that exercise multi-sensor inputs (EO, thermal, eventually passive radar and RF) against our detection, tracking, and fusion pipelines.
  • Run client-site deployments alongside engineering — validate system behaviour in real environments, capture data, file actionable defects, train operators.
  • Define acceptance criteria for new firmware, FPGA, and application releases before they go to customer sites.
  • Build regression suites that catch integration drift across sensor, edge inference, platform, and operator-software layers.
  • Lead naval qualification testing as our maritime program matures: salt-fog, shock, gyro stabilisation, sea-state validation.

Mechanical Engineer: Housing, Assembly & Opto-Mech

Goa, India

3-6 years

Our cameras live where the weather, vibration, and sand do not forgive shortcuts. Cooled and uncooled programs run in parallel — you’ll lead the mechanical design across both, alongside the optical mounting that makes long-range surveillance possible.

Experience:

  • 3–6 years (mid-level).
  • Strong CAD (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated experience with at least one of: opto-mechanical design (camera optical mounting, EO/thermal alignment), ruggedised IP67 / MIL-STD-810H enclosures, or thermal management for compute-dense sealed assemblies.
  • Defence, aerospace, or precision-optics background preferred.

What you'll do:

  • Lead the mechanical design of the FX-Ground camera product line — cooled and uncooled variants are two distinct mechanical programs running in parallel.
  • Own optical mounting, lens interface, sensor alignment, and EO/thermal optical-axis alignment across our SKUs.
  • Solve thermal management for FX-Core compute boards inside sealed housings — heatsinks, fan modules, conduction paths, and Stirling-cooler thermal isolation on our cooled SKUs.
  • Drive enclosure design for environmental compliance: IP67 across all SKUs; MIL-STD-810H and salt-fog for our naval line.
  • Design the assembly fixtures and tooling that let our production team build units repeatably.
  • Coordinate with the hardware team and our PCB design partner on board outlines, mounting, connector placement, and cable routing.

DevOps / Infrastructure Engineer: Build, Release & Field Operations

Goa, India

3-6 years

Our software runs on cameras at the edge of network connectivity. You’ll build the systems that get code from a developer’s laptop to a unit in the field — reliably, securely, and without anyone losing sleep.

Experience:

  • 3–6 years in DevOps, SRE, or infrastructure engineering.
  • Strong with CI/CD (GitHub Actions or similar), containerisation, infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Ansible, Pulumi).
  • Experience shipping software to physical devices, embedded targets, or air-gapped environments is a strong plus.

What you'll do:

  • Build and own the CI/CD pipeline — from code commit to images shipped to field units, not just cloud deploys.
  • Design OTA update and rollback mechanisms for software running across our compute platforms, in environments with intermittent connectivity.
  • Build observability for deployed units — telemetry, logs, and health signals from the field, surfaced so the team can act on them.
  • Stand up internal developer tooling: dev environments, build caches, artefact storage, secrets management.
  • Manage cloud infrastructure for FX-Sim, model training, internal services, and customer-facing surfaces.
  • Bake in the security and air-gapped deployment patterns that defence customers require, from day one.
